WHAT TRAVEL LOOKS LIKE FOR 2021
Tourism was one of the worst hit sectors in our country during the first waves of the pandemic with estimated losses of 55,000 million euros. However, with the arrival of the new year, travel expectations are growing and new trends emerge with the change in priorities of tourists in recent months. We take an X-ray of the new traveler of the year 2021:
- We want to travel more
The announcement of the distribution of the vaccine against COVID-19 has encouraged tourism lovers according to the study Monitoring Sentiment for Domestic and Intra-European Travel, carried out this month by the European Travel Commission.
This project indicates that 32% of the population intends to travel between April and June 2021, which represents a growth of 20% compared to the last report reported in December before the vaccine was commercialized.
- We will plan it better, and with flexible bookings
We not only want to travel more, but also to plan better our trip. This is certified by TripAdvisor in its latest research, which claims that more than 70% of respondents will spend more time selecting their destination, their accommodation and looking for activities for their trip.
Planning a vacation so far in advance and under the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus has heightened interest in flexible bookings. Thus, the 2021 traveler will opt for accommodation and transportation that facilitate the cancellation or change of their services.
- With safety ahead, for the benefit of the vacation rental
The latest studies from the European Travel Commission certify that health and safety considerations are by far the biggest concern of travelers.
This has led to opt for accommodation options alternative to the hotel or resort, turning this into a boom in the rental of vacation homes, camper and even private boats.
However, the strict protocols against COVID-19 implemented on the European continent lead 67% of respondents to say that they feel safe and relaxed enough to enjoy their trip.
These are just 3 of the trends we have studied in travel for this year… Stay tuned, because we will publish soon the second part of the post so you can find out more!
